The mother and the child benefit from continued breastfeeding past the first two years. Breastfeeding for an extended period may reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and breast and ovarian malignancies.<\/span><\/p><p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Fighting infections and other diseases:<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0 Breastfed Babies have a lower rate of illness and hospitalization than formula-fed babies. Using a formula will provide your baby with the highest quality substitute for breast milk. (It is not advisable to try to produce your formula or to give a baby cow&#8217;s milk or any other type of milk.)<\/p><p>Several factors lead mothers to choose formula.<\/p><ul><li><strong>It&#8217;s convenient. <\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Anyone can provide babies that are fed formula at any time. It\u2019s adaptable to your needs. Pumping doesn\u2019t have to be a part of your job routine. Put the formula in a sealed container and leave it with the babysitter or daycare. Your partner can assist with overnight feedings and strengthen your relationship with the baby.<\/span><\/li><li><strong>Timed feedings could be less of a hassle<\/strong>. Babies fed formula don&#8217;t have to eat as frequently, especially in the first few months, because it takes longer for their bodies to process the food.<\/li><li><strong>What you eat is not much of a concern.<\/strong> Breastfeeding mothers may need to avoid some foods if their infants are allergic or sensitive to them. There&#8217;s no harm in relaxing with an occasional drink of wine or a cocktail. Because even trace amounts of alcohol can be passed on to infants through breast milk, breastfeeding mothers should not drink.<\/li><\/ul><p>It is recommended that you pump breast milk while your baby is receiving complementary feedings so that you can resume nursing as soon as your baby is ready.
